Please read these terms carefully before using edSmart. They set out the rules for using our spelling platform, taking part in challenges and competitions, and what you can expect from us.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By creating an account or using edSmart ("the platform"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
2. Who can use edSmart
edSmart is designed for pupils and students. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you may only use the platform with the involvement and consent of a parent, guardian or teacher, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Your account
You are responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your login details secure. Please give accurate details, do not share your account, and do not impersonate anyone else. You may close your account at any time from your profile.
4. Fair play
Spelling rounds, challenges and competitions are meant to be your own work. Using another person, a dictionary, a spell-checker or an automated tool to answer on your behalf is not allowed, and may lead to scores being removed or an account being suspended.
5. Competitions, scores and prizes
Some competitions may award prizes. Eligibility, entry requirements and prize details are shown with each competition. Scores and rankings are calculated by the platform and, save for obvious error, are final. We may adjust or void results affected by cheating or technical faults.
6. Payments and refunds
Where a competition has an entry fee, payment is handled by our third-party payment provider; we do not store your card details. Fees are generally non-refundable once an entry is confirmed, except where required by law or stated otherwise for a specific competition.
7. Content and intellectual property
The word bank, audio pronunciations, meanings, designs and other materials on the platform belong to edSmart or its licensors and are provided for your personal, non-commercial learning use only. You may not copy, scrape, record or redistribute them without our written permission.
8. Acceptable use
Please use edSmart respectfully. Do not attempt to disrupt the service, access other users' accounts, upload harmful content, or use the platform for anything unlawful.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The platform is provided "as is". We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but cannot guarantee it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. To the fullest extent permitted by law, edSmart is not liable for indirect or incidental losses arising from your use of the platform.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and significant changes may be highlighted on the site. Continuing to use edSmart after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
